O Presente de César is the story of Caesar Tróia and his family. It speaks of bacalhau (codfish), the most Portuguese of Norwegian-speaking fish, the lands of Aljezur and the banks of Newfoundland, out from the Canadian coast.
In these lands where the weight of yearning from home is part of being, part of the soul, the reunion has the acrid, bitter, salty taste. The taste of bacalhau (codfish). The taste that is part of our history. Our story is of hardship overseas, where men choose the cold, the fog, the loneliness. And this loneliness stays within them forever . Even in a family home, they prefer to be alone and just think about going back, sailing, fishing. Fishing away from the world, fishing away from being. In these lands where the weight of longing is part of us.
This show is part of the Aljezur Sweet Potato Festival and is also an onboard dinner with a special menu. An amazing menu consisting of soup, main dish and dessert and, of course, the wine that our chef likes very much, really very much.
