As part of the artistic programme created by Lavrar o Mar - Cooperativa Cultural to celebrate the centenary of Portimão's town status (1924 - 2024), in partnership with the Portimão council, the musicians Pedro Salvador, Johannes Krieger and Margarida Mestre will develop a set of three musical laboratories of guitars, woodwinds and voice. These labs are for professional and amateur musicians from Portimão who wish to rediscover the pleasure of playing music together can enroll in them. The city will be the backdrop for the journey of discovery and composition of the various laboratories, whose sessions will occur between July and December.

The work developed within the scope of these MUSICAL LABORATORIES will be presented at different moments of the artistic programme of the Centenary of the City, namely in the MUSEU DO TEMPO - Burial Ceremonies project and in the Commemorations of the Day of the City of Portimão, on December 11, 2024.

These Music Labs will be presented as part of the artistic programme created by Lavrar o Mar - Cultural Cooperative for the celebration of the Centenary of the Elevation of Portimão to City (1924 - 2024) under a partnership established with the Municipality of Portimão

Starting from the research of ORALITIES with people, recordings, literary records, revealed memories, and popular wisdom, the material with which scores sung by those who want to join in celebrating the centenary of the city are composed. Let's GIVE this place a VOICE!

From the electric guitar, in this laboratory, oriented by Pedro Salvador, it is proposed to explore the sound dimension of a large orchestra, of an actual "sound wall", while experiencing the sound produced by dozens of amplifiers and all its possibilities to provide the listener and performer with a unique listening experience.

This laboratory, supervised by Johannes Krieger, seeks to experiment with the different sounds of the instruments of the wind family: strong sounds and low sounds, bass sounds and high sounds, contemporary experimental sounds and traditional music, games with music improvising sounds, and composed and written music. Participants are invited to discover different ways to play in a group, in a large band, or in a small ensemble.

Target audience
Amateur and professional musicians of wind instruments (woodwinds, brass woodwinds, and any harmonicas and/or bugles). Participants should have essential experience with their instruments. You don't need to know how to read sheet music, but those who know how to read sheet music are also very welcome.
