An unique and magnificent ethnic concert by Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio, led by the composer Mario Tronco. Based on original and selected texts by José Tolentino Mendonça, with the prompt of finding a musical meaning to the expression "intercultural dialogue”, Credo results as a confidential prayer, certainly not a ritual. The work, in fact, does not provide a specific reference but approaches religious world music with extreme stylistic freedom. An intercultural inter-religious oratoria that leads the audience to one of the most stunning landscapes of this region to listen to the gods approaching the sun.

The concert venue occurs within the protected area of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, therefore we kindly ask you to please have the best care and respect with the place. Norms available for download.
Credo
“To believe is a vital condition in life. May it be a doctrine, a thought or any relationship among people. What you believe in defines your life path. It’s the natural magic intrinsic to children, that is often lost in the process of growing up, when cognition and rationality are developed, along with a longing and an irresistible impulse of trusting in the invisible things. This is what we sing about, through the words written and selected by José Tolentino Mendonça. It’ll be a music score for nine musicians with very different origins. An intimate, non-ritual, prayer for those who believe in the existence of God but also for whoever, watching a star or in the face of a disaster, pray for God to exist.”
Mario Tronco, Maestro Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio

“What best expresses the experience of God, in any language or in any faith, is silence. Faith is a manifestation of trust in silence. Maybe for being hermeneutics of silence, religions keep a close and intimate, unsuspected, creative, trustful connection with music. Nietzsche wrote that without music, life would be a mistake. Religion and music meet there: in the search and in the translation for a life meaning.”
José Tolentino Mendonça, poet, theologist and author of CREDO libretto
